Sable Creek
A past-producing underground mine, on care and maintenance since 1971, being re-examined for a modern restart with current drilling and metallurgy standards.
Sable Creek produced from 1938 to 1971 through a shaft and three main levels before closing on falling grade and rising water make-up costs, not on exhaustion of the vein system — historic mine plans show the vein open at depth below the lowest level developed.
Why we picked it up
The historic production figure of roughly 340,000 oz is a non-compliant historic estimate, assembled from company reports and government mine inspector’s returns rather than a current resource classification, and we treat it as exactly that — a reason to look, not a number to rely on. The underground workings, historic assay plans and a modern till-sampling program together support step-out potential both along strike and below the old workings.
Current status
The site is on care and maintenance: the shaft is secured and inspected quarterly, and surface facilities are maintained under our standard closure obligations. A scoping-level review of a shaft rehabilitation and confirmation-drilling program is underway.
